Cancer & Microbes Workshop

September 17, 2021 | 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. | Beckman Institute (Room 5602)

The Cancer Center at Illinois (CCIL) and the Illinois Microbial Systems Initiative (MSI) have formed a new partnership to promote enhanced collaboration at the interface of microbial sciences and cancer. The “Cancer and Microbes” strategic initiative will be a part of the CCIL Cancer Discovery Platforms Bridging the Engineering-Biology Continuum (CDP) Program.

The Cancer and Microbes Workshop is a one-day, inaugural event that will begin with group introductions in the format of lightning talks followed by roundtable discussions, providing opportunities to identify areas of synergy and potential collaborative partners on campus. From this interactive workshop, we will develop a vision to encompass the fundamental ideas generated by participants and build upon this foundation to foster creative and interdisciplinary approaches to diagnose and treat cancer.

This event is limited to Illinois faculty and will provide a forum to discuss research interests and establish the foundations for collaborative work in the area of Cancer and Microbes.
