Tumor Immunology Working Group

The Tumor Immunology Working Group brings together researchers across the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign who are interested in understanding how the immune system interacts with cancer. The group provides a collaborative forum for faculty, trainees, and research staff to share ongoing work, discuss emerging discoveries in cancer immunology, identify new opportunities for collaboration, and foster interdisciplinary cancer research.

Through regular meetings, research presentations, and scientific discussion, the working group aims to strengthen the tumor immunology research community at Illinois and accelerate the development of innovative approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Meeting Schedule

The Tumor Immunology Working Group meets monthly during the academic year.

  • Time: 12:00–1:00 p.m.
  • Location: Beckman Institute (room varies by meeting)

Meetings typically feature research presentations from faculty and trainees, discussion of emerging topics in tumor immunology, opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, and networking and community building. Upcoming meeting dates and locations will be announced through relevant communication channels.

    Membership

Membership is open to faculty, trainees, research staff, and students interested in cancer immunology and related fields. Researchers from across campus are encouraged to participate, including those with interests in:

      • Tumor immunology
      • Immune cell biology
      • Cancer biology
      • Comparative oncology
      • Translational cancer research
      • Bioengineering and immunotherapy
      • Computational and systems immunology

      Member Resources

Illinois faculty, staff, and trainees may access the Tumor Immunology Working Group’s resources and meeting materials via the shared Box folder.

        Trainee Participation

The Tumor Immunology Working Group welcomes participation from graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, undergraduate researchers, and other trainees interested in cancer immunology. The working group provides opportunities to:

        • Present ongoing research and receive feedback from faculty and peers
        • Learn about research taking place across different laboratories and disciplines
        • Engage in scientific discussion and troubleshooting of research challenges
        • Explore potential collaborations
        • Develop scientific communication and presentation skills
        • Build professional connections within the Illinois cancer research community

Trainees at all stages are encouraged to participate, whether they are actively conducting tumor immunology research or interested in learning more about the field.
