Yi Lu has over 25 years of experience developing selective sensors using functional nucleic acids for on-site and real-time environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, imaging and targeted drug delivery. His research interests lie at the interface between chemistry and biology. The Lu group is developing new chemical approaches to provide deeper insight into biological structures and functions. He has collaborated with a number of CCIL members on developing novel agents for diagnostic imaging and theranostic agents for cancer.
Lu received his BS from Peking University, PR China in 1986 and his PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1992. After two years of postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology, he joined the faculty at Illinois in 1994.
