A newly developed tool combines different types of genomic data to predict patients’ specific responses to therapeutic drugs. The application, developed by the University of Illinois and the Mayo Clinic, is based on information contained in human genomes and enables researchers to predict patient reactions. “A cloud-based infrastructure was constructed as well as a portal to enable genomic researchers to analyze their data using state-of-the-art machine learning and data mining,” says U. of I. computer science professor Saurabh Sinha, who co-directs the KnowEnG Center of Excellence at the U. of I.
