Dr. Zeynep Madak-Erdogan discussed the findings of her NCSA faculty fellowship project on May 9. Her work looked at the issue of cancer health disparities among African American using several scales simultaneously to understand the complex systematic issue. This project seeks to understand the molecular basis of breast cancer disparities in the South-side of Chicago. By dismantling the context of cancer health disparities, she explained what is means to be in a racial/ethnic group, a person of low socio-economic status, a resident in a certain geographic area or a person with a disability.
